The Start
I am Mexican-American, born into a small family-owned apparel production business in L.A. I’ve seen the glorious days when my father’s factory was full with brands I’ve seen in stores. Unfortunately, those days are long gone. I’ve seen brands that we had partnered with grew, my family’s business, along with many other similar local small businesses, did not. Many developed brands moved production overseas, with very few loyal brands remaining (whom I really appreciate, THANK YOU!), I decided it’s time for a change. I ventured into creating my own brand. I want to make an effort to start creating opportunities. I want to fight for and keep my local team and business going.
The Concept
The brand’s concept is quite simple. I want to create comfort clothing for the everyday people like myself, my family, my team, and people I see around. No expensive suits, fancy pants, or designs that require the perfect bodies to fit. With this being said, it doesn’t mean I will take the cookie cutter route of starting the brand with big manufacturers’ blanks. I want to be able to create my pieces. Not only does this help in creating work locally for my team, vendors, and friends, but it also allows me to add a bit of my personalities to my line. It’s a newfound creative outlet that I didn’t get to experience much before while manufacturing for others.
The Name: EXUBERANT
Despite so many discouraging situations surrounding us, I want to be reminded to always keep this feeling of excitement going for our dreams. I want my team, and everyone I come in contact with at my small shop, can feel the lively energy I bring through my work and be inspired. I still believe in small businesses in California. I believe in my business. May the EXUBERANT attitude be an inspiration for others as well!
